Anything you like! All templates are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International. That means all templates may be distributed, remixed, adapted, and built upon in any medium or format, even for commercial purposes under the condition that Antonio Anderton-Coulton (acelectronics) is credited appropriately.
The example programs are adapted from the templates. These are protected under Copyright laws, and are provided only for the purposes of using these to download the program the microcontrollers when recreating the circuits from the books. You may use these as inspiration for writing your own programs.
For most PIC microcontrollers, the templates are not too different. Using the instructions in Volume 1 of Programming PIC Microcontrollers using Assembly Language and the blog posts here on the website you should be able to work out the differences, but if you cannot then please feel free to get in contact and I will endeavour to create a Lite or Superlite version of a template for the microcontroller needed from the mid-range devices (PIC10, 12, or 16) as quickly as I am able.
